Compress or resize your images

Target file size

The tool first lowers quality. If that is not enough, it also reduces the pixel size a little so the file really fits under your limit. Turn this off to keep the original resolution.

Camera details and location (EXIF) are removed from every saved image.

Add at least one image to begin.

How this image compressor works

When you add a photo, your browser decodes it and redraws it on a canvas at the same width and height. It then saves the picture again as JPG or WebP at a lower quality setting. To reach a size such as 50 KB, the tool tries several quality levels and keeps the highest one that still fits under your limit.

Everything happens on your phone or computer. The images are not uploaded, so large photos from your camera and documents with personal photos stay with you. Because each image is redrawn, camera and location details stored inside the file are dropped.

How to compress an image to a target size

  1. Open the Compress tab and add one or many images.
  2. Pick a target: 50 KB, 100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB or type your own value in KB.
  3. Press Compress and check the before and after sizes for each image.
  4. Use Compare to slide between the original and the compressed picture.
  5. Download one image, or choose Download all as ZIP. You can rename the files before they download.

How to resize an image by width and height

  1. Open the Resize tab and add your images.
  2. Type a width, a height, or both in pixels, or switch to percentage.
  3. Keep Keep aspect ratio on to avoid stretching. Press Resize and download.

Why use this tool

Same resolution

Compress mode keeps the original width and height. Only the file size in KB changes.

Hits your KB limit

Choose a target and the tool searches for the best quality under it, instead of leaving you to guess a quality slider.

Bulk and ZIP

Handle up to 50 images in one session and download them together with names you choose.

Private by design

Processing runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded and no account is needed.

Example: how much space a target saves

This is simple arithmetic for a phone photo that is 4 MB (4096 KB). It shows the saving if the target is reached. Real results depend on the picture, and detailed photos look softer at very small targets.

TargetOriginalSpace saved
500 KB4096 KB87.8%
100 KB4096 KB97.6%
50 KB4096 KB98.8%

Important notes

  • Check your portal's rules. Some forms ask for an exact size in pixels as well as a limit in KB. Resize first, then compress.
  • PNG files are lossless. They rarely shrink much. Save as WebP or JPG for a smaller file.
  • Transparent PNGs saved as JPG get a white background, because JPG has no transparency.
  • Make a copy of important originals. Compression loses detail that cannot be brought back.
  • Very large photos can fail on older phones because the browser runs out of memory. Try the Resize tab to reduce the pixels first.

Frequently asked questions

What is an image compressor online and how does it work?

An online image compressor makes an image file smaller so it is easier to upload, email or share. This tool redraws each image in your browser and saves it again at a lower quality setting. The width and height stay the same, only the file size in KB or MB goes down.

How do I compress an image to 50 KB, 100 KB or 500 KB?

Add your images, choose a target size such as 50 KB, 100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB or 1 MB, then press Compress. The tool tests different quality levels and keeps the highest quality that still fits under your target. You can also type a custom size in KB.

How to reduce photo size in KB (photo size kam kaise kare)?

Open the Compress tab, add your photo, pick the KB limit your form or portal asks for and press Compress. The result shows the original size, the new size and the percentage saved. Download the file and upload it to your form. If you also need exact pixel dimensions, use the Resize tab first.

Will compressing an image reduce its quality?

JPG and WebP compression is lossy, so a smaller file always means some loss of detail. The tool picks the best quality that fits your target and shows a quality label for each result. A 500 KB target usually looks very close to the original. A 50 KB target on a large photo will look softer, especially in fine detail.

How do I convert MB to KB for an image?

One MB is 1024 KB. A 2 MB image is about 2048 KB, and the 1 MB option in this tool means 1024 KB. To get a file under a limit such as 200 KB, choose that target and the tool compresses the image until it fits.

Can I compress many images at once and download them as a ZIP?

Yes. You can add up to 50 images in one go by selecting several files, dragging them in or pasting from your clipboard. After compression, download each file separately or use Download all as ZIP. Before each download you can rename the files.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Compression and resizing happen inside your browser, on your own device. Your images are not sent to our servers. Closing or refreshing the page clears everything from memory.

Which image formats are supported?

You can add JPG, JPEG, PNG and WebP images and save the result as JPG, PNG or WebP, or keep the original format. PNG files are lossless, so they cannot be reduced to a small KB target by quality alone. For the smallest size, convert PNG to WebP or JPG.

Why can't my image reach 50 KB?

Very large photos, images with a lot of fine detail and PNG files are hard to shrink at full resolution. When the target cannot be reached at acceptable quality, the tool tells you and offers two options: save as WebP, or allow a smaller resolution. It never changes the dimensions without your choice.

How do I resize an image in pixels without stretching it?

Open the Resize tab, keep Keep aspect ratio switched on and enter either a width or a height in pixels. The other side is calculated for you. If you enter both, the image is fitted inside that box without distortion. Turn the option off only when you need an exact width and height.

Is this image compressor free? Do I need an account?

It is free to use and needs no signup or login. It works on phones, tablets and computers in a modern browser.
